If you live downtown and walk your dog at 9 p.m. hoping for a patch of grass, help is coming. Legacy Park at 102 N. Main St. in the Tulsa Arts District is being redeveloped into Brush Arbor Grove Dog Park, with completion expected in October 2026.
What's planned
- Two separate areas: one for small breeds, one for larger dogs
- Artificial turf (no mud season, easier to keep clean)
- Automatically locking gates and updated lighting for evening visits
- Prairie-inspired landscaping that keeps the existing trees
- Posted, enforceable rules and more frequent cleaning by the Downtown Tulsa Partnership's Ambassador Team
- A mural by a local artist
Who's behind it
The Downtown Tulsa Partnership is leading the project with the City of Tulsa, PartnerTulsa, the Tulsa Arts District and Land Legacy Trust. The reason is straightforward: downtown has added roughly 500 apartments in five years, and as interim president Emily Scott put it, families moving in "also bring their dog friends."
Our take
Turf plus separate small-dog space plus lights is the right recipe for an urban park. The thing to watch is how the vaccination and behavior rules are enforced once it opens. We'll walk it with Wisp the first week and report back.
